The latest trend in consumer electronics oddity: selfie-trunks. That’s right, elephant trunks. At least, according to Canadian Christian LeBlanc, a tourist visiting an elephant sanctuary in Thai island of Ko Phangan.
LeBlanc, like many other adventure-travelers world round, brought his GoPro along for the ride — including to film himself feeding an Asian elephant native to that part of the world. Hoping for a memorable shot of the elephant in action, Chris set his GoPro to continuously shoot photographs, but little did he expect the elephant to ostentatiously snatch up his camera before snapping a selfie of the two of them at trunk’s length.
“The elephant loves the bananas, so it kind of gets a bit nosy,” LeBlanc explained. “It grabs at your hands, it tries to take all the bananas. And once we ran out, next thing I knew it was grabbing the GoPro.”
Suffice to say, the elephant not only returned the GoPro uneaten, but its valiant efforts yielded an image that went viral shortly after Chris uploaded it to his Instagram. Under these circumstances, we may assume that the gentle beast knew exactly what it was doing; emulating the tourist hordes that regularly selfie alongside it.
