5.0-in. HD LCD offers in-cell touch for smartphones

A 5.0-in. diagonal HD LCD 720 x 1280 pixel module features a thin, touch embedded display (TED) technology for thinner, lighter and lower cost smartphone designs. The module is a TFT LCD with an in-cell touch sensor inside the TFT cell to optimize touch and optical performance.

Traditional touch displays use two driver ICs, one for display and one for touch function. This TED in-cell module uses only one touch display driver IC to perform both display and touch functions simultaneously. The touch sensor is integrated into the display’s liquid crystal cell. A common electrode is designed into several unit arrays, and each unit array can be used for the display and touch together.
