802.15.4 SoC targets Thread mesh network

The EM3587 is a complete ZigBee/802.15.4 wireless SoC with a transceiver, a Cortex-M3 processor, and 512 Kbytes of flash with optional read protection. It works with the companies Thread mesh networking software stack to yield a low power standards-based IoT solution.

The IC has 64 Kbytes of RAM, an AES128 encryption accelerator, a flexible A/D converter, UART/SPI/TWI serial ports, general purpose timers, and optional USB 2.0. Receive supply current (w/CPU) is 27 mA, while it takes 31 mA in transmit (at +3 dbm). Deep sleep supply current, with retained RAM, GPIO, and sleep timer is only 1.25 µA. The IC has 24 configurable GPIOs with Schmitt trigger inputs. The device runs on 2.1 to 3.6 V and comes in a 7 x 7 mm QFN48 package. From $5.96 ea/2,000.
