Holt Introduces Application Development Kits for MAMBA MIL-STD-1553 BC,RT,MT Solutions

New application dev kits announced for company’s recently released MAMBA family

Holt Integrated Circuits today announced the availability of four new application development kits for the recently released MAMBAfamily, the world’s smallest MIL-STD-1553/1760 integrated solution.

MAMBA
All MAMBA devices have on-chip dual bus transceivers, 8K words static RAM (16-bit plus parity) and a 40 MHz Serial Peripheral host Interface (SPI).

Kits are offered for four different combinations of MIL-STD-1553 terminal modes: ADK-6138 has BC/RT/MT, ADK-6137 has BC/RT, ADK-6136 has RT/MT and ADK-6135 has RT only.

Each kit provides a fully functional out-of-the-box platform for evaluating concurrent operation for any combination of the included 1553 terminal modes. Kit hardware consists of two boards; an upper MAMBA board has configuration DIP switches, MAMBA programmed self-configuration EEPROMs and two transformer-coupled MIL-STD-1553 bus interfaces.

The lower microprocessor board has the ARM Cortex M3 16/32-bit MCU, JTAG debug interface and regulated 3.3VDC power supply. The MAMBA board can be separated from the MCU board for connection to a user-supplied alternate microprocessor or FPGA platform.

All kits include a working software reference design written in ANSI C. The project source code is easily customized, encompassing all aspects of single or concurrent multiple terminal operation, including auto-initialization, flexible BC message sequencing, MT message storage, RT message illegalization and mode code handling, data buffering and interrupt management.

“These kits provide a complete reference design for many common MIL-STD-1553 application requirements,” said Anthony Murray, Director of Marketing Communications at Holt. “Holt is excited about the MAMBA family. Offered in 6 mm QFN or 9 mm QFP, MAMBA provides customers with the smallest MIL-STD-1553 terminal size and lowest cost on the market today.”

The kit includes an evaluation version of IAR Embedded Workbench® for ARM® from IAR Systems®, a fully functional integrated software development environment including project management tools, optimizing C/ C++ compiler and debug interface for all ARM and ARM Cortex microcontrollers. The ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller board has a Segger “J-Link On Board” debug interface, providing easy connectivity to the Embedded Workbench debug tools via a standard USB cable provided with the kit.

All four kits are available now on request from Holt.
