Wireless chip offers unprecedented performance

The QSR10G Wi-Fi platform implements multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO) technology for home wireless access points and residential gateways with up to 12 streams for unprecedented Wi-Fi performance. The 10G Wave 3 device combines a true 8 x 8 MIMO configuration for 5 GHz networks with a 4 x 4 MIMO configuration on 2.4 GHz networks.

The devices 802.11ac/n/a 5 GHz wireless LAN chipset has up to 8.6 Gbits/s PHY data link speed in 160 MHz mode and up to eight streams, while the 2.4 GHz modem has four streams at up to 1.0 Gbit/s. Access points or gateways using the chip set can support more clients, each running more efficiently for video, voice, and IoT. The baseband chip (QT10GU) comes in a 17 x 17 mm BGA546 package; the RFIC (QT7810B) a 10 x 10 mm BGA225; the RFIC (QT6210B) an 8 x 8 mm BGA121. The QSR10GU and other versions (QSR10GA, QSR10G5, QSR10PA) are sampling to early access partners.
