The UCC28180 is an 8-pin, active Power-Factor Correction (PFC) controller.
To achieve low current distortion, excellent voltage regulation of boost pre-regulators in AC-DC front-ends, and high Power Factor, the device operates under Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM).
UCC28180 is ideal for universal AC input systems that operate in a range of 100-W to a few-kW, with the switching frequency programmable between 18 kHz and 250 kHz. It conveniently supports both IGBT and power MOSFET switches. Users may easily manage the external power switch sans buffer circuits due to an integrated 1.5-A and 2-A (SRC-SNK) peak gate drive output. External component count is reduced as no input line sensing is required thanks to this part's low-distortion wave shaping of the input current.
Worth noting: high-power systems benefit from the UCC28180’s ability to use small-value shunt resistors, and trimmed internal current loop regulation circuits dispel inaccuracies and enable low current distortion. Its VCOMP discharge circuit is activated when voltage feedback signal is more than VOVP_L .
UCC28180 has an enhanced dynamic response circuit that fosters improved response with fast load transients. In terms of compatibility, it can be used with white good appliances, server and desktop power supplies, flat-panel TVs, and industrial power supplies.
