12 volt brushed motor system solution for applications requiring up to 10,300 RPM

Features a MSP430 controller and a DRV8837 brushed DC motor driver

Integrating a MSP430 microcontroller and a DRV8837 brushed DC motor driver, and a 12 V brushed motor, TI’s low-voltage brushed motor system is the ideal solution when designing major appliances like refrigerators, freezers, room and residential air conditioners, as well as general purpose drives reliant on brushed DC drives.

Measuring only 19 x 33 mm, the compactly designed solution not only exudes a miniature footprint, but is suitable for applications that require a maximum of 10300 RPM under zero load conditions. In fact, the motor’s rotational speed and direction can be manually controlled to activate a low power state that reduces power consumption when the system is not in use.

The low voltage solution is called thus because its motor power supply voltage supports 1.8v to 11v with a max current of 1.8A. In addition, it features a low MOSFET on-Resistance of 280 mΩ, with TI’s signature protection against short-circuit, shoot-through, under-voltage, and over-temperature, built right into the motor drive stage.
