At 138.3 mm long, 67.1 mm wide, 7.1 mm thick, the iPhone 6S is Apple’s latest smartphone. It is equipped with a 16GB eMMC, 2GB of DDR4 SDRAM, an A9 chip with 64bit dual-core Apple Application processor, 4.7-inch LCD screen, and a 1334 x 750-pixel resolution at 326 ppi.
The iPhone 6S comes with Apple Pay, a mobile payment and digital wallet service, as well as 3D Touch, which adds another dimension to the iPhone.
3D Touch is a pressure-sensitive trackpad that allows you to press down on the iPhone's screen to pull up new menus, activate shortcuts, and generally interact with the device in different ways. The next generation touchscreen is able to tell how hard you’re pressing, differentiating between a tap, standard press, and a deep press, which will help you navigate around your phone quicker.
Pressing down lightly lets you take a peek at things, while deep pressing causes a screen to pop out for further touching. For example, if you deep press on the phone icon, it goes straight to voicemail. You can deep press on a song in Music to get different options. If you press extra-hard in Maps, your phone will start turn-by-turn navigation without further prompting.
What makes the iPhone 6S popular is its ramped up processor speeds, better cameras, and Siri that is always-on. Once you play around with the front and rear cameras a bit, you’ll notice both have Live Photos, a new feature that records a second and a half before, and a second and a half after you snap any shot on the phone. The live photos are similar to animated GIFs with audio or little time lapses.
Other notable features include its sapphire crystal glass screen that is notably sturdier, a new 12-megapixel iSight camera with 1.22µ pixels capable of taking live photos, and 4K video recording at 30 fps. Under the display panel is a 1715 mAh Li-Ion battery. Available colors include silver, gold, space gray, and rose gold.
