ATCA chassis delivers 400-W-plus cooling/slot, spec compliance

The Pixus 15U AdvancedTCA (ATCA) chassis can provide cooling that exceeds 400 W/slot while meeting all of the NEBS requirements and CPTA best practices. While some other chassis may claim to offer 400-W/slot cooling capability, they may lack compliance and ignore best practices, which include the ability to cool the chassis for 2 minutes with a fan tray removed as well as remaining within FCC acoustic (dB-level) requirements.

The Pixus 15U chassis leverages the original Kaparel design, providing more air evacuation using next-generation RiCool III reverse-impeller hot-plug cartridges; the blowers feature 185-cfm airflow per fan with static pressure of 71mm H2 0. The chassis features not only specially designed EMI filter trays above and below the card cage that help collimate airflow but also full redundancy of all field replaceable units. Options include 10- and 40-GbE backplanes; to minimize backplane cost and facilitate migration to 100 GbE, the signal section and power section are separate. Ruggedization options are available for the shelves.
