50 A regulator features shielded inductors

The LTM4650 is a dual 25 A or single 50 A output step-down µModule regulator with onboard shielded inductors, MOSFETs and a dual dc/dc regulator IC. It is housed in a thermally enhanced plastic package. The device is offered in a 16 x 16 x 5.01-mm BGA with a patented built-in heat sink. The heat sink is attached to the MOSFETs and inductors. With no external heat sink, the regulator delivers 50 A from 12 VIN to 0.9V OUT at up to 71°C ambient temperature with 200 lfm airflow or up to 77°C with 400 lfm.

The LTM4650’s precision current-mode architecture allows four devices to multiphase current share, delivering up to 200 A to loads such as ASICs, FPGAs and microcontrollers. Delivering 50 A, 92% efficiency is recorded at 5 VIN , 1.8 VOUT and 86% at 12 VIN , 1.0 VOUT . The device guarantees ±1.5% maximum total dc-output voltage accuracy over line, load and temperature. It is rated for operation from –40º to 125ºC.
