Image of the Day: Glock gun outfitted as a Nintendo ‘Duck Hunter’ zapper

Gun made to look like popular game controller

Glock looks like NES gun
Reserving all political discussion on whether this is right or wrong to the comment section below, what you see here is a real gun designed to look like the fake gun used in Nintendo’s Duck Hunt video game.

NES gun for duck hunt
Created by Texas-based Precision Syndicate LLC, a machine prototyping company, the Glock firearm has been specially designed to look like Nintendo’s popular gaming accessory, which was released in 1984 in Japan, and later in the US. The controller allowed NES gamers to point the device at their TV screen and shoot various game targets.

The gun / controller has since been modified by enthusiasts to work as an accessory for newer games, but this marks the first time in recent years that it’s been altered into a real-world weapon (at least, to this level of publicity — it’s been done before, but never with this heightened level of response).

Response to the device has been mixed, with some debating the sensibility of having created such a device, to those responding with tremendous enthusiasm and attempting to buy one.

“The fact that this exists is why cops don't have the time to make the decision of its a toy or a gun,” said one commenter, while another said, “Worthless craps for making this! Not only would a child have a hard enough time telling the diff if it's real or fake imagine all the law enforcements that now might second guess it and lose their life and others around!”

On the other side of the fence, one responder wrote “How much? Take my money!!!” while another said “Sit back and enjoy the craftsmanship behind it. This is actually pretty cool.”

Glock designed as NES gun
Response to the image of the modified NES gun / Glock reached such a fever pitch that Precision Syndicate had to issue a formal response, which was published on the company’s Facebook page:

In light of the “Nintendo Glock” drama, we feel that the media and our fans need to know that this firearm will not be mass produced nor will it ever be. This is a one off custom build for a friend of ours. Do to the thousands of emails and messages we have received in the past 2 days we have been unable to contact everyone in a timely manner, please be patient we will get to you as soon as possible. Thank you all for your support! Oh, and please.. keep your guns locked up and away from children, it's common sense.
