Mouser Electronics, Inc. is now shipping the CYBLE-222014-01 EZ-BLE PRoC Bluetooth 4.2 module from Cypress Semiconductor. This fully certified Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) module is the industry's first to enable all three key features of the Bluetooth 4.2 standard — data length extension, upgraded privacy, and enhanced security — all of which are critical for Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The module’s small footprint and drop-in capability with Cypress’ CYBLE-022001-00 and CYBLE-222005-00 Bluetooth 4.1 modules make it ideal for medical, home automation, and wearables applications.
The Cypress CYBLE-222014-01 EZ-BLE Programmable Radio-on-Chip (PRoC) module, available from Mouser Electronics, is a 48 MHz 32-bit solution with 256 KBytes of flash, 32 KBytes of SRAM, and a 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC). It features two integrated crystals, an onboard chip antenna, and a programmable architecture that supports a number of peripheral functions (such as ADC, timers, counters, and PWM) and serial communication protocols (including I2 C, UART, and SPI). The 10mm × 10mm × 1.8mm module provides up to 16 general-purpose inputs and outputs (GPIOs), configurable as open drain high/low, pull-up/pull-down, Hi-Z, or strong output.
For enhanced development and testing, designers can use the CYBLE-222014-EVAL EZ-BLE PRoC Evaluation Board, also available from Mouser Electronics. The evaluation board can be used standalone with an external programmer like the CY8CKIT-002 MiniProg3 or plugged into the CY8CKIT-042-BLE Bluetooth Low Energy Pioneer Kit for easy prototyping with the PSoC Creator integrated development environment.
