The LV8907 high performance sensor-less three-phase BLDC motor controller IC features integrated gate drivers and a two-stage charge pump. The IC provides required gate current for a wide range of ultra low RDS(ON) type external N-MOS FETs and includes protection for over-current, over-voltage, short-circuit, under-voltage, and over-temperature. It supports an operating voltage range from 5.5 to 20 v and uses trapezoidal or sinusoidal back EMF feedback.
AEC-Q100 qualified, the LV8907UW’s operational temperature range reaches up to 175°C, making it suitable for many automotive applications as well as home appliances and industrial. It comes in a in a SQFP48K package.
The controller provides open-loop or closed-loop speed control with user configurable startup, speed setting and proportional/integral (PI) control coefficients, making it suitable for a wide range of motor and load combinations. It has a linear regulator for powering an external circuit, a watchdog timer, and a LIN transceiver. The LV8907 offers the smallest system solution footprint available. An SPI interface is provided for parameter setting and monitoring the system health. With the operating junction temperature tolerance up to 175°C and electrically LIN compatible control signals (PWM and Enable), the LV8907 is an ideal solution stand-alone automotive BLDC motor control systems.
The chip does not require programming as parameters and functions – such as startup and speed setting – can be configured via SPI interface and stored in embedded OTP memory. For more complex applications the LV8907UW can also support a small microcontroller with its integrated linear regulator (3.3 or 5 v, 50 mA). $5.55 ea/2,500.
