Micron 1100 SSDs use 3D NAND for up to 2 Tbytes of storage

Micron 1100 3D NAND SSDs deliver next-generation storage performance and provides 256 Gbytes to 2 Tbytes of storage in a 2.5 inch format or 1 Tbyte in an M.2 format. These client side drives uses a SATA 6 Gbit interface and offers 530 Mbyte/s sequential read and 500 Mbyte/s write speeds. Random read/write speed is 92/83 IOPS. They use Micron’s 384 Gbit 32-layer TLC NAND chips and a Marvell 88SS1074 controller.

The devices (part number example MTFDDAV256TBN or MTFDDAK256TBN) feature dynamic write acceleration optimized for common client computing environments, where data writing operations tend to occur in bursts, offering the highest performance possible without decreasing capacity. They provide encryption and decryption using a AES-256-bit hardware engine that complies with the TCG Opal 2.0 standards and Microsoft eDrive IEEE 1667 protocol.

Low power sleep mode takes only 2 to 25 mw – depending on the drive memory size and endurance is 120 to 400 Tbytes. The drives incude power-loss protection and adaptive thermal monitoring. The Micron 1100 will begin mass production in July, followed by an NVME version, the 2100, by the end of summer.
