SDC 2.5 connectors plug directly into pc boards’ through-contacted bore holes without tools, thereby eliminating the need for soldering or an additional header and reducing component and process costs. The connectors’ “SKEDD” plug-in technology employs a geometry that is similar to press-in technology: each contact pin is made up of two flexible halves that easily adjust to plated through-holes on a board. When the contact is inserted into a through-hole, the integrated body-bound rivets lock the connectors in place to form a vibration-resistant connection.
Wires terminate to the connector with a push-in spring connection. Solid and stranded wires with a ferrule can be pushed directly into the terminal block without opening the spring clamp. To remove the wires, the user simply presses the orange spring lever with a standard screwdriver. The connectors have a 5-mm centerline and are available in versions with one to 16 positions. List price starts at $0.90.
