LG’s 360 virtual reality headset has a compact and light design and is extremely comfortable to wear. The device works similarly to Samsung’s Gear VR and uses the processing power of the LG G5 to run the virtual experiences. But rather than placing your phone directly into the headset and using its screen as your window into VR as you would with the Gear, the 360 VR has its own screen and plugs into the G5 via a USB-C cable. As a result, users get a lighter headset that works like a pair of safety goggles.
At 164.4 mm long, 185.5 mm wide, and 46.1 mm thick, the LG 360 VR weighs just 140.9 grams and is equipped with an ARM Cortex-M4 32-bit microcontroller. It has a 6-axis MEMS accelerometer and gyroscope, a 3-axis electronic compass, an ambient light sensor, and a proximity sensor with IR emitter LED.
Additionally, the headset is equipped with a horizontal field-of-view lens of 80°, and a right and left 1.9-in IPS TFT display rendering 720 x 920 pixels with up to 16,777,216 colors. The LG 360 VR is compatible with USB 2.0, USB Type-C, HDMI, and has a 3.5-mm audio jack. Priced at $199.99, the device is available in gray.
