Transactive Energy session for Alt Energy topic offers expert insights at APEC 2017

The PSMA-Sponsored session at APEC 2017 features timely discussions with expert insights from standards bodies, national labs, and academic fields

The Power Sources Manufacturers Association (PSMA) Alternative Energy Committee is sponsoring an Industry Session at APEC 2017 titled “Transactive Energy and the Electric Power Grid.” Its goal is to provide a broad overview of the challenges, standards, and technologies related to transactive energy focusing on the issues of integrating power from distributed energy sources with the utility infrastructure. The session will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 10:10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at the Tampa Convention Center.

Transactive energy refers to techniques for managing the generation, consumption or flow of electric power within an electric power system through the use of economic or market-based constructs while also considering grid reliability constraints. The Transactive Energy and the Electric Power Grid Session (IS08) will feature four invited speakers who have been chosen to provide different perspectives on this timely and important topic. These include experts from the IEEE standards committee, the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory as well as Case Western University.

The Chair of the Alternative Energy Industry Session, Martin Fornage of Enphase Energy, encourages attendees to participate in the session to explore how energy is and will be transacted in the grid. The committee also urges power electronics professionals to register for the upcoming APEC 2017 conference, to make plans to attend the Industry Session on Alternative Energy, and to consider participating in the other PSMA-sponsored Industry Sessions during the week.
