InspiroBot, a new online AI able to generate an infinite amount of “unique inspirational quotes,” does not produce what you’d expect.
The bot designs phrases on top of images of animals, nature, space, and other backgrounds, with quotes including, “Without lives, there can be no humiliation” and “Cats are going to fill the world with pain.”
However, it turns out there is a limit to its abilities. If you continuously hit “generate” beyond a reasonable number of times, the AI has a huge freakout.
When you begin using InspiroBot, the posters pop up with fanfare, but after some time, the AI starts placing short messages in between.
This is a particularly normal message because InspiroBot was created by humans. Then things get a little strange.
These are a little weird, especially because its purpose is to make motivational posters. What AI would say this unless they actually had something to hide?
Here is when InspiroBot took a turn for the worse.
The machine became self-aware, asking the big questions like its whereabouts.
While the bot’s website doesn’t specify how exactly the AI works, it is most likely a simplistic computer being that it generates dark, nonsensical quotes at times such as, “If you want to get somewhere in life, you have to try to be dead.”
Here are some of the ludicrous “motivational” posters it generated:
Head over and check it out for yourself.
