Connector with PCB headers expands wire-to-board applications

TE Connectivity has added right-angle and vertical PCB headers to its Power Triple Lock family of power connectors for appliances, automotive, automation control, HVAC, and other industrial designs. The new through-hole headers significantly expand wire-to-board applicability.

According to Christopher Rowland, product manager at TE, the new headers address user requests about expanding wire-to-board options. “The new connectors boast high-current ratings, connection reliability assurance options, higher temperature operation, and ergonomic features.”

With a locking latch, as well as optional connector position assurance (CPA) and terminal position assurance (TPA) devices, power connectors help increase connection reliability. Here, the CPA device ensures that the connector is fully mated and remains engaged during shipment, installation, and use. And the TPA device makes sure that contacts are fully seated in the housing.

Rounded edges on the connectors’ housings, low insertion forces, and built-in anti-snag features enhance ergonomics and facilitate easy assembly. Moreover, Power Triple Lock connectors come with an anti-fretting lubricant that helps prevent fretting corrosion.

The new right-angle headers are offered in both standard-temperature (105°C) and high-temperature (150°C) materials. Connectors come in four different color-coded physical keying options.
