KOA Speer rolls out anti-surge chip resistor

Flat chip resistor targets automotive, consumer electronics, and telecommunication markets

By Heather Hamilton, contributing writer

KOA Speer Electronics introduced the WG73 wide-terminal-type, surge-current flat chip resistor, which outperforms KOA’s WK73 series in pulse-withstanding voltage. The chip resistor is available in a 1020 package with a 1-W power rating.

Designed for current detection and high accuracy, the WG73 is well-suited for use in telecommunication, automotive, and consumer electronics industries. Applications include power supplies, DC-to-DC conversion and AC adaptors, automotive ECU, and motor circuits. The WG73 is AEC-Q200-qualified and meets EU RoHS requirements.

The anti-surge WG73 offers a temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of ±100 ppm/°C and a resistance range of 560 mΩ to 1 KΩ. Other key specs include a standard tolerance of ±10% and ±20% and a wide operating temperature range of –55°C to 155°C.

KOA Speed said that the WG73 provides better heat dissipation and a smaller size compared to standard chip resistors thanks to wide side electrodes.

Lead time for the WG73 is 10 weeks. Samples are available.
