Lumileds recently unveiled its LUXEON V2 LED, designed for high power performance in streetlights, high-bay/low-bay fixtures, sports stadiums, and portable applications. The company claims that the LED provides the highest performance in its class for output and efficacy as well as DLC Premium performance at the system level. The LUXEON V2 features a 2 × 2-mm chip-scale package (CSP) in a 3.5 × 3.5-mm standard (3535) package.
Jennifer Holland, product line director at Lumileds, said that the LUXEON V2 is designed so that “99% of the light is forward-directed, resulting in the industry’s most usable light from a compact source.”
The LUXEON V2 boasts that output and efficiency at 4,000K, 70 CRI is 315 lumens (lm) at 160 lm/W when driven at 700 mA. In addition, the CSP die offers high drive current capability up to 2.4 A across the operating range. At 1 A, the LED provides 150 lm/W and more than 10% more flux when compared with similar 2-mm2 products.
The LUXEON V2 also offers the lowest thermal resistance substrate at 2.6 C/W in the industry, which simplifies the thermal design, according to the company. A Lambertian radiation pattern profile makes it possible to leverage the current optics ecosystem to accelerate time to market.
The LUXEON V2 is available in a variety of color temperature and CRI options.
