Fabless power semiconductor company Helix Semiconductors announced that the Murata Group is the first to co-develop the new MxC 300 transformerless chipset for its AC/DC converter modules. The MxC 300 is a two-chip solution that claims the highest power density in the industry — up to 20× higher than transformer-based solutions — for 65-W transformerless AC/DC power supply products.

Helix Semiconductors’ core energy-efficiency MuxCapacitor technology uses switching capacitors for power conversion. By transferring power across a capacitive isolation barrier, the MxC 300 chipset enables the replacement of traditional transformers, resulting in AC/DC power supplies up to 20× higher in power density improvement than legacy architectures, with efficiencies approaching more than 94%.
