Tektronix offers data streaming and visualization service for $9.99 per month

Designed to visualize data that is streamed from your devices and applications, the service is free to students

Tektronix Inc. through its subsidiary, Initial State Technologies, Inc., offers a new Initial State cloud-based streaming and visualization service for $9.99/month. It includes unlimited data streaming and visualizations. Engineers, technologists, makers, hobbyists, and students alike can create dashboards to visualize data being streamed from their devices and applications. (The service is free to students.) All of the new platform’s visualization and analysis applications are available via a web browser, eliminating the need for software installation.

The Initial State platform provides unlimited data streams and includes a secure, centralized repository for time-series data. AWS infrastructure and enterprise-grade best practices are utilized to provide encryption and data and access management. The service also delivers high uptime and full data redundancy. According to the company, the platform processed more than 100 billion data points with zero downtime over the last year.

A variety of tools are provided for applications including home/office monitoring, IoT device performance dashboards, GPS trackers, manufacturing line data collection, and energy use tracking. The platform also provides a web-based dashboard builder and up to 180 API calls per minute of data streaming, email, and SMS triggering as well as public/private sharing of data and dashboards.

The service can deliver real-time data transformations to simplify both real-time and historical data analysis (eliminating the need for manual calculations). Real-time triggers can be set to alert users via SMS or email notifications. Users can implement these tools to build hosted data applications using both real-time and historical data.

Initial State users have already implemented the platform to perform IoT data-stream analysis and to support product development and research, among other potential applications. Initial State can also be used for educational purposes, as illustrated by the partnership with the Raspberry Pi Foundation, to allow students to create their own weather analysis applications for the Raspberry Pi Oracle Weather Station project.

The Initial State platform is currently available for $9.99/month or $99/year. It is free for students.
