Molex expands MultiCat power connector family

Molex  has expanded its MultiCat Power Connector System with the addition of eight- and 20-circuit mid-power versions. Designed with precision-machined contacts, this system enables engineers to use a highly reliable connector in a smaller space. The mid-power versions also offer low contact resistance and solid mass contact.

The system can be mated quickly and ensures proper connection via a visual connector position assurance feature that allows the user to see that the connector is properly engaged. It also offers two keying options.

This new connector system offers a lightweight and compact wire-to-wire or wire-to-board configuration, a UL1977 finger-test−certified receptacle, and a two-piece hermaphroditic backshell. The operating temperature range is −40°C to 150°C.

Both the MultiCat High-Power and Mid-Power Connector Systems provide connector position assurance and a positive lock that are activated by hand. This feature makes it easy to mate and unmate while decreasing assembly and maintenance time compared to competing products.
