Sampling oscilloscope platform delivers faster test times

Tektronix’s new sampling oscilloscope platform for testing optical transceivers includes an oscilloscope, optical sampling modules, and new software.

Tektronix, Inc. has introduced its new 8 Series sampling oscilloscope platform that touts scalability and repeatability, while reducing test times. The optical transceiver test platform includes the TSO820 sampling oscilloscope, optical sampling modules, and TSOVu, a new software platform that runs independently on the host PC for both live and offline processing of acquired data.

Tektronix 8 series sampling oscilloscope platformTektronix also introduced the TCR801, an external optical clock recovery module that covers dual band ranges around both 26 GBd and 53 GBd. The clock recovery instrument works with new and existing test equipment, including the TSO820 and DSA8300. This external instrument provides a FC/PC optical connection for PAM4 and NRZ and uses external optical splitters.

The disaggregated modular instrument series, at 3U high, offers parallel acquisition, with up to four channels per mainframe and claims the highest measurement accuracy for PAM4 optical signals on multiple inputs simultaneously. The configurable series is well suited to applications where users need to add new analysis capabilities and reconfigure test systems to support upcoming standards and changes in workflow.

In addition, the offline and remote modes of operation extend the analysis and visualization capability of the TSO820 beyond the oscilloscope to a user computing environment, said Tektronix, enabling an easy transition from design phase to debug, characterization, and manufacturing test. Available now, the 8 Series comes with a one-year warranty.
