Osram Opto Semiconductors has introduced the OSCONIQ C 2424, a compact high-power LED that offers a wide color temperature range from cool to warm white and a variety of color rending indices (CRIs) for different outdoor lighting designs. Osram claims it is the only LED housed in a chip-scale package (CSP) with an integrated electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection device. It protects the LED against damage caused by electrostatic voltages up to 8 kV.
Suited for high-power applications, the OSCONIQ C 2424, based on Osram’s UX:3 chip technology, joins Osram’s other high-power LED families – the OSLON Square and OSCONIQ P series. The new high-power LED is available in three CRIs: 70, 80 and 90. It covers the color temperature range from 2200 to 6500 Kelvin.
The LEDs also deliver high brightness and efficiency values. One example cited is the CRI 70 version that achieves 328 lumens at 700 milliamperes and 167 lumen per watt.
Another benefit to lighting manufacturers, said Osram, is the LED’s robust epoxy package that offers increased stability, while protecting the LED from corrosion and external shocks.
Key specs:
The OSCONIQ C 2424 package measures 2.4 x 2.4 x 0.6 mm. The chip or the light-emitting surface (LES) of the LED is 2.1 x 2.1 mm. Because the package and chip have approximately the same dimensions, it is considered a CSP, said Osram, allowing the individual LEDs in the luminaire to be placed close together for homogeneous illumination.
