Automotive inductor meets high temp operation to 155°C

Vishay Intertechnology’s automotive-grade, through-hole inductor offers continuous high temperature operation to 155°C.

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has launched an automotive-grade, through-hole inductor that delivers a 420 A saturation current for 30% inductance reduction in a compact 1500 case size. For automotive applications, the Vishay Dale AEC-Q200-qualified IHXL-1500VZ-5A offers a low typical direct current resistance (DCR) down to 0.12 mΩ and continuous high temperature operation to 155°C.

The inductor’s shielded, composite construction enables a compact size of 38.1 x 38.1 x 21.9 mm to support up to 235 A of continuous DC current. Other key specs include an inductance range from 0.68 to 33 μH and a DCR typical range from 0.12 to 0.40 mΩ (max: 0.13 to 0.42 mΩ).

Vishay IHXL-1500VZ-5A inductorVishay said the IHXL-1500VZ-5A inductor can replace larger and more expensive competing solutions in high current input filters and 12 V/ 24 V/ 48 VDC/DC converters for switching regulators, differential mode and boost power factor correction chokes, and battery charging systems.

The IHXL-1500VZ-5A handles high transient current spikes without hard saturation, said Vishay. RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green, the device provides high resistance to thermal shock, moisture, and mechanical shock. The through-hole lead configuration can be modified to accommodate a bolt-on or weld termination.

Samples and production quantities of the IHXL-1500VZ-5A are available now, with lead times of eight to 10 weeks. Pricing for U.S. delivery starts at $10.

Vishay recently introduced several automotive-grade devices including the NCW 0406 AT AEC-Q200 qualified thin-film chip resistors and the AEC-Q200 qualified NTC thermistor.
