IoT connectivity evaluation kit eases testing of wireless mesh use cases

Fujitsu’s IoT Connectivity Solutions Mesh evaluation kit makes it easier for users to test wireless mesh IoT uses cases like asset tracking.

Fujitsu Components America, Inc. has launched an IoT Connectivity Solutions Mesh evaluation kit that simplifies feasibility testing of use cases for wireless mesh IoT solutions, leveraging Fujitsu’s hardware and Wirepas mesh technology. The kit includes anchor nodes and asset tags for asset tracking and sensor nodes for environment monitoring and a cloud set-up, which includes the the Wirepas Network Tool (WNT), Wirepas Mesh Positioning Engine (WPE), and a web-based sample dashboard application.

Each mesh evaluation kit contains the required components and tools to build a mesh network of sensors. These include the following:

  • 5 × FWM8BLZ07Y sensor nodes with the following sensors onboard: temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, accelerometer, luminance, and sound level
  • 5 × FWM8BLZ07P mesh nodes set as asset tags
  • 20 × FWM8BLZ07P mesh nodes set as Wirepas anchor nodes for location awareness
  • 1 × FWM8GWZ01 Wi-Fi gateway with two Wirepas sink nodes to connect the mesh network to the cloud service
  • 1 × manual explaining the usage and installation of the hardware and software package

Fujitsu IoT Connectivity Solutions wireless Mesh evaluation kitThe Wirepas Mesh-based sensor units enable a user to build a sensor network and monitor data from the multiple sensors in each sensor unit via the web-based sample dashboard application which runs in the cloud. The 20 mesh nodes, configured as anchor nodes, can cover over 100 m2 of floor for room level accuracy asset tracking. The five mesh nodes, configured as asset tags, can be mounted on any asset.

Available now, the kit comes with a three-month software evaluation license that gives developers access to the full-production grade Wirepas network tool, the Wirepas positioning engine and the sensor data webpage, which are all connected to a cloud instance. Custom offerings are available to meet special use cases.
