All-metal current sense resistor shrinks for IoT and robotics applications

Stackpole’s CSSH series current sense resistor delivers high power and low resistance values in a smaller 0805 package size for IoT and robotics applications.

Stackpole Electronics Inc. offers the CSSH0805 current sense resistor in an 0805 package size for a variety of IoT and robotics applications. The current sense resistor’s high-power, low-value resistance range combination allows the CSSH0805 to be used in designs that normally require a 1206 or 2010 size device, saving significant printed-circuit-board (PCB) space, said the company.

Stackpole CSSH0805 current sensor resistorThe all-metal chip resistor features a 1-W power rating, resistance values down to 0.5 milliohm and a temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) ranging from 50 ppm to 100 ppm. The device offers stable electrical and environmental performance under a wide range of industry standard tests.

The combination of the high-power capability, stability, low resistance values, and accuracy make them suited for a variety of functions and end products, said Stackpole. These applications include power modules, frequency converters, home appliances, solid-state power supplies, portable battery management, hybrid power control, and automotive power and control.

Pricing for the CSSH0805 ranges from $0.125 to $0.15 each for 1% tolerance in full package quantities, depending on resistance values. Click here for the CSS/CSSH series datasheet.

Stackpole offers a range of current sense resistors such as the CSRT family for applications that require high sensing precision and high power, including the CSRT thin-film chip resistor in an 0201 package.
