Designed for demanding applications, Lumileds has introduced its high-light-output LUXEON 7070 LEDs that are designed to outperform similar lead-frame and ceramic high-power solutions in a small surface-mount package. The LUXEON 7070 is suited for any new or redesigned streetlight, high/low bay, horticulture, floodlight, and spotlight applications.
The LUXEON 7070 LEDs deliver three times the light output compared to a typical 5050 LED, with up to 2,000 lumens. The higher light output allows for lower LED density, which can “reduce the size and cost of the PCB, optimize the heatsink, and potentially the optical system as well,” said Lumileds.
The LEDs also are said to provide superior lumens/watt for outstanding luminous efficacy. (See table here.)
The LED series uses a special treatment designed for greater lumen maintenance and corrosion resistance in demanding environments such as on top of a high mast or in high humidity. It is hot color-targeted (85°C), binned for 3 and 5 step MacAdam ellipse, and is available in a full range of CCTs (2200 K to 6500 K) and 70, 80, or 90 CRI.
Lumileds has worked with Future Lighting Solutions, LEDiL, and Carclo to offer asymmetric and symmetric optical systems. An ecosystem of drivers, heat sinks, optics, and technical know-how support is available for the 7070 series. Turnkey evaluation kits with driver and optics are available from Future Lighting Solutions and Lumileds’ distribution network.
LUXEON LEDs are used in a range of applications, including architectural, entertainment, retail, horticultural, and sports, covering a full spectrum of luminous flux.
