LDO linear regulators target automotive camera modules

Ablic has launched a series of LDO linear regulators for automotive camera modules and other space-constrained applications.

Ablic Inc. has introduced its new S-19255 Series of automotive low-dropout (LDO) linear regulators. Claiming the smallest high power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) LDO linear regulators, the S-19255 devices are housed in a HSNT-4(1010)B package, measuring 1.0 × 1.0 x 0.41 mm, enabling them to fit into smaller camera modules.

In addition to the small package size, the series can use smaller capacitors (0.1 μF input capacitors and 1.0 μF output capacitors) to further reduce the overall footprint.

An LDO linear regulator regulates voltage to maintain a stable output voltage and a high PSRR device suppresses ripple, or power supply variations, over a wide frequency range to deliver clean power, said Ablic.

The 5.5-V input, 30- mA LDO linear regulators provide a high PSRR over a wide frequency range with a ripple rejection rate of 80 dB typ. (f = 1.0 kHz) and 50 dB (f = 100 kHz), eliminating the need for circuits to reduce noise, thus simplifying circuit design and cutting costs, said Ablic. It also makes the devices suited to high-sensitive camera modules.

The S-19255 devices integrate an overcurrent protection circuit and a thermal shutdown circuit. They operate over a temperature range of -40°C to 125°C. The devices also are available in a SOT-23-5 package.

The S-19255 series has passed the triple-temperature test (low, normal and high temperature) and AEC-Q100 compliance is in process. The series is also Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)-capable. The devices are both lead-free and halogen-free.

Depending on the package type, automotive applications include surround view cameras, driver monitoring systems, forward warning collision systems, front sensing cameras, navigation systems, audio systems, and in-vehicle electrical applications.
