5-V op amp offers wide supply voltage range

STMicroelectronics has extended its 5-V op-amp family with the introduction of the TSV782 for high-speed and high-accuracy signal conditioning.

STMicroelectronics has expanded its 5-V op-amp family with the new high-performance TSV782 dual op amp. The TSV728 features 30-MHz gain bandwidth (GBW) and 50µV (typical) input offset voltage for high-speed, high-accuracy signal conditioning.

The TSV782 can function with a supply as low as 2.0 V and can operate from a deeply discharged battery, extending the runtime of equipment such as smoke alarms. Operation down to 2.0 V also allows the op amp to use the same power rail as low-voltage logic devices to simplify system design and lower the bill of materials, said ST.

The operating current of 3.3 mA/channel helps designers maximize the application energy budget to power higher functions and capabilities such as smart features and wireless connectivity. Other features include rail-to-rail input and output and maximum slew rate of 20 V/µs. The extended operating temperature range is -40°C to 125 °C.

The TSV782 joins rail-to-rail devices, including the TSV772, which has GBW of 20 MHz and maximum slew rate 13 V/µs, the 50 MHz TSV792 that operates at 5.5 mA per channel as well as the TSV7722.

The TSV782 has maximum input bias current of 300 pA up to 125°C, enabling accurate signal conditioning with high-impedance sensors or in transimpedance configuration, according to ST. With the high-accuracy 5-V op-amp family designers can create circuits that don’t require trimming or calibration during production, which eliminates the need for external components such as precision resistors and potentiometers, said ST.

The TSV782 is in volume production now. They are available in SO-8, MiniSO-8, and 2 × 2 mm DFN8 packages. Prices start from $0.62 for orders of 1,000 pieces. Free samples are available now on the ST eStore. Automotive-grade devices in SO-8 and MiniSO-8 will be in full production by the end of 2022.
