Power bead inductors reduce power losses

Bourns’ Model SPB shielded power bead inductors deliver low DC resistance and reduce power losses in multi-phase integration applications.

Bourns, Inc. has introduced five new series of shielded power bead inductors that deliver high-rated current and “extremely” low DC resistance from 72 to 440 nH. The Model SPB0705, SPB1005SPB1007SPB1012, and SPB1308 series are designed to support the enhanced efficiency, low magnetic field radiation, and reduced power loss requirements in a variety of multi-phase integration applications.

The inductance ranges for the Model SPB0705 (43 A), SPB1005 (53 A), SPB1007 (61 A), SPB1012 (60 A), and SPB1308 (50 A) are 72 – 150 nH, 100 – 220 nH, 115 – 300 nH, 100 – 330 nH, and 210 – 440 nH, respectively. The maximum DCR for the SPB0705, SPB1005, SPB1007, and SPB1308 is .035 mΩ, while the SPB1012 provides a DCR max of 0.14 mΩ (0.12 mΩ typical).

These features in combination with SMD footprints (6.7 × 6.5 to 13.5 × 13 mm) make the new SPB shielded power bead inductors well suited for power conversion solutions in applications such as voltage regulator modules (VRMs), power processors, memory modules, high current ASICs, servers, storage, data centers, networking systems, and graphic cards.

All five of the new SPB models are RoHS compliant and halogen free. The operating temperature range for all devices is -40°C to 125°C. Click here for Bourns’ product portfolio of shielded power inductors.
