Cornell Dubilier has extended the voltage range up to 35 VDC for its XMPL polymer chip capacitor series. Designed to meet designs that require higher voltage and capacitance, applications include high ripple current, DC output filtering, high-frequency SMPS, and DC/DC converters as well as LED lighting, SSDs, industrial instrumentation, automation, and computer peripherals.
The standard capacitance values now range from 6.8 µF to 470 µF, with a maximum working voltage of 35 VDC. Capacitance tolerance is +/-20%. The voltage range is 2 VDC to 35 VDC. The operating temperature is -55°C to 105°C with a load life of 2,000 hours at 105°C with rated voltage applied.
CDE said the XMPL family’s tight capacitance and voltage stability with temperature and frequency make them suited for applications where bulk storage and high ripple current filtering are needed.
In addition, thanks to their lower equivalent series resistance (ESR) and a shorter height profile than SMT aluminum electrolytics, these polymer chip capacitors can reduce the size and cost of high-frequency/high-ripple applications by using fewer components, said the company.
The XMPL capacitors are housed in a molded package, measuring 7.3 × 4.3 × 1.9 mm. These capacitors are halogen-free and RoHS compliant. They are available at CDE-authorized distributors.
