Partnership launches LoRa IoT development board

Semtech Corp. and Connected Development have released a new LoRa IoT development board and reference design.

Semtech Corp. and Connected Development, an engineering design services company, have launched the XCVR development board and reference design. The LoRa IoT development board and reference design simplify the design process and reduce time-to-market for applications such as building management, agriculture, supply chain, logistics and industrial control.

At the heart of the LoRa IoT dev board is the LoRa sub-GHz radio transceiver based on Semtech’s LoRa SX126x Series, while Connected Development’s layout and schematic files for the XCVR development board provide LoRa implementation into end-product designs. The IoT solution can be used in a variety of applications including smart homes, smart cities, smart meters, building automation, asset tracking and sensors (environmental, parking, safety and security, etc.).

The included software drivers are compatible with various microcontroller vendors including Nordic Semiconductor. Software examples include LoRa Point to Point and LoRaWAN (LoRaMAC-Node & LoRa Basics Modem) reference firmware for fast software development.

“LoRa continues to be seen as the de facto wireless platform for IoT,” said Robert Comanescu, senior director of the IoT Chips Business at Semtech, in a statement. “Semtech’s LoRa chipsets connect sensors to the Cloud and enable real-time communication of data and analytics that can be utilized to enhance efficiency and productivity.”

The XCVR development board and reference design with the SX126x LoRa Sub-GHz radio transceiver, along with dedicated support services, is available exclusively at Mouser Electronics and Symmetry Electronics. The dev board is available in three variants (SX1261 and SX1262 as well as the LLCC68 RF transceiver) to support North America and EMEA.
