TDK claims smallest common-mode filters

TDK’s thin-film common-mode filters deliver noise reduction for high-speed interface differential transmission in the smallest package size.

To address the growing need for fast transmission of signals, while keeping noise from interfering with devices and affecting communication, TDK Corp. has introduced the TCM0403T series of noise reduction common-mode filters. Designed for high-speed interface differential transmission, the thin-film common-mode filters are available in the industry’s smallest package size, measuring 0.45 × 0.3 × 0.2 mm.

Target applications include high-speed differential interfaces, including USB3.0/3.1/3.2, HDMI2.0/2.1, Display port/eDP and MIPI D-PHY, for smartphones, tablets and wearable devices.

The TCM0403T-200-2P-T210 and TCM0403T-080-2P-T210 feature a differential insertion loss cutoff frequency of 8 GHz or higher and support transfer speeds up to 12 Gbits/s. The TCM0403T-200-2P-T210 offers a high common mode attenuation of 42 dB at 2.4 GHz, and the TCM0403T-080-2P-T210 features a high common mode attenuation of 34 dB at 5.0 GHz. The operating temperature range is –25 to 85°C.

TDK said common mode attenuation, an important index for noise countermeasures, has improved in the TCM0403T series compared to conventional products.

The devices feature a proprietary coil conductor pattern that uses a thin-film production method and leverages material technology developed via TDK’s magnetic heads. The common-mode filters support miniaturization and weight reduction of electronic devices and offer noise control in high-speed differential transmission and high common mode attenuation.
