Nexperia has unveiled a series of four- and eight-channel analog switches. The NMUX1308 and NMUX1309 monitor and protect 1.8-V electronic systems with control pins that operate independently of their power-supply voltage range. This eliminates the need for additional components to perform level-shifting, saving board space and reducing costs.
The multiplexers include AEC-Q100-qualified variants for automotive applications and standard versions suitable for a broader range of consumer and industrial applications, including sensor monitoring and diagnostics, enterprise computing and domestic appliances.
These analog switches include features to enhance system safety, including fail-safe logic that eliminates the need for power sequencing between the analog switch and the system microcontroller. Power-off protection allows analog pins to be biased prior to system power-up and remain biased after system power-down. Both features prevent back-power of the supply rail through any pin of the analog switch.
All analog signal pins are bidirectional and support a voltage range from GND to VCC. These signal pins integrate injection current control circuitry that isolates overvoltage spikes on disconnected analog signal pins from coupling to the connected analog signal path for greater measurement accuracy. This integration makes external overvoltage clamp components unnecessary.
The control signal pins support 1.8-V logic thresholds across all operating voltages and are 5.5-V tolerant. They enable up to 5.5-V operation independent of supply voltage.
The NMUX1308 is a general-purpose, CMOS, bidirectional, eight-channel analog switch with an operating voltage range of 1.5 V to 5.5 V. It extends the digital-logic thresholds to be compatible with 1.8-V systems without voltage translation. It is dual-source compatible with existing 4851 and 4051 devices.
In comparison, the NMUX1309 is a general-purpose, CMOS, bidirectional, four-channel analog switch, featuring an operating voltage range of 1.5 V to 5.5 V. It is dual-source compatible with existing 4852 and 4052 devices. It also extends digital logic thresholds to be compatible with 1.8-V systems without voltage translation.
The NMUX1308 and NMUX1309 switches are available in standard (-40°C to 85°C) and automotive-qualified (-40°C to 125°C) versions. Leaded and leadless options are offered for both switches.
