Bel Fuse expands fuse line for EVs

Bel Fuse adds 800-V options to its fuse line for electric and hybrid vehicles, along with a wide range of current ratings.

Bel Fuse Inc. has extended its fuse portfolio for electric and hybrid vehicles with 800-V protection devices, joining the company’s line of 500-V and 1,000-V fuses. These include the new 800-V 0AKJ, 0ALB, 0ALC, 0ALD and 0ALF series.

These fuses are available in a variety of formats and mounting options. The typical operating temperature range is -40℃ to 100℃ with some products featuring a range of up to 125℃. The fuses also feature a wide range of current ratings, from 5 A to 800 A, depending on the application.

  • The fast-acting 0AKJ square-body fuse series for short circuit protection offers a maximum voltage of 800 VDC and current ratings from 150 A to 400 A. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 100°C.
  • The 0ALB Series offers short circuit protection with a maximum voltage of 800 VDC and current ratings from 100 A to 250 A. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 125°C.
  • The 0ALC Series provides both overload and short circuit protection. Key specs include a maximum voltage of 800 VDC, current ratings from 50 A to 80 A and an operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C.
  • The 0ALD fuse protects high-voltage accessory circuits in EVs, hybrid vehicles and energy storage systems. The series offers a maximum voltage of 800 VDC, current ratings from 5 A to 40 A and an operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C.
  • The 0ALF Series fuses for short circuit protection offer a maximum voltage of 800 VDC and current ratings from 700 A to 800 A. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 100°C.

These devices are designed for battery modules, battery packs, junction boxes, chargers, stations and auxiliary circuits in the electric vehicle (EV) market, especially across Europe. EV and hybrid vehicle sales are expected to rebound in 2024, especially in Belgium and Germany, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), Bel Fuse said.

Bel Fuse’s EV fuse portfolio, the 0AKC, 0AKJ, 0ALB, 0ALC, 0ALD, 0ALF and 0ALG series, are available now. The company said it will continue to expand its overload and short-circuit protection portfolio to meet increased demand.
