Collaboration delivers Wi-Fi HaLow devices

Milesight and Morse Micro launch Wi-Fi HaLow sensing camera, people counter and gateway, offering higher speeds and low power consumption.

Milesight, a global provider of smart IoT solutions, and Morse Micro, a fabless semiconductor company, have introduced Wi-Fi HaLow variants of Milesight’s X1 Sensing Camera, VS135 Ultra ToF People Counter and HL31 Gateway. These new devices can transmit pictures and other data at higher speeds with low power consumption thanks to Wi-Fi HaLow, the companies said.

The new Milesight versions offer extended range, low power consumption and high device capacity. They can be used in a range of industries and applications, including smart cities (smart lighting, parking and waste management systems), smart buildings (people counting and enhanced coverage), smart retail (customer experience and engagement), agricultural (remote monitoring and precision agriculture tools), logistics/asset tracking (secure tracking of assets and inventory) and healthcare (remote monitoring and telemedicine).

Morse Micro said the Milesight camera and gateway are a game-changer in demonstrating the potential of Wi-Fi HaLow and a significant step forward for the IoT industry.

“The extended range and low power consumption are particularly impressive, opening up new possibilities for IoT applications that were previously out of reach,” said Professor Neil Weste, Fellow at Morse Micro, in a statement.

Wi-Fi HaLow, based on the IEEE 802.11ah standard, delivers long-range, low-power connectivity for IoT applications. Unlike traditional Wi-Fi, it operates in the sub-1 GHz frequency band, offering extended range and improved penetration through walls and obstructions. It also has the capability to connect thousands of devices.

The X1 Sensing Camera, VS135 Ultra ToF People Counter and HL31 Gateway are available now across most regions.  Morse Micro is now sampling its Wi-Fi CERTIFIED HaLow MM6108 production silicon.
