It’s January and it doesn’t take much to get your day started on the wrong foot. Read the morning newspaper and you’re faced with endless stories about high energy prices and how the housing downturn continues to put a damper on America’s economy. Or look outside and watch Mother Nature deliver a full cash value winter storm in the Northeast and Midwest, or torrential rains, flash floods, and mudslides in Southern and Western regions.
Well, there’s nothing we can do about your commute to the office. But we can help you once you get there. Assisting engineers involved in the design and development of electronic products and systems to succeed in their jobs is the primary editorial objective of Electronic Products .
We’re excited about all that is new and improved. We hope you are, too.I’m happy to tell you that the publication you hold in your hand is of greater value than ever, for several reasons. For starters we’ve made it easier to navigate to articles you want to read via an expanded contents section—now also including highlights from our various Web sites. We’ve also freshened the design of the magazine, spiffed up the cover, and improved our online contents package.
To make sure you don’t miss out on the latest trends in analog electronics, with this issue we’re launching a new monthly department we call Project Analog, aimed at supplying the essential facts you need to make better-informed analog part and technology choices.
Online we’ve added EmbeddedDeveloper to our portfolio of resources. EmbeddedDeveloper.com provides engineers the means to search, compare, evaluate and buy products in the entire embedded ecosystem. For example, EmbeddedDeveloper.com lets EEs select and compare ARM-based microcontrollers from suppliers such as Atmel, Freescale, NXP, STMicroelectronics, and Texas Instruments, then download datasheets or go to Arrow’s shopping cart and buy the chips directly. Similarly, EmbeddedDeveloper.com also lists the starter kits, evaluation boards, operating systems, IP stacks, and other tools needed to help you successfully complete your design projects.
As always, in January we present our annual Product of the Year winners. Rest assured that each POY honoree merits special attention. While we have tried to convey as much as possible in as few words as possible, these brief sketches undoubtedly will leave some elements not completely discussed, so each entry provides a URL link to enable you to get additional information.
We’re excited about all that is new and improved at Electronic Products . We hope you are, too.
