A look at some of the quirky products debuted at CE Week 2016

3D pens, speakers, drones, 360-degree cameras, and even a tortilla toaster.

From the Pocket Drone that has fold-in motors so you can literally put it in your pocket to the electrically-charged glass that makes your beer taste bubblier, this year’s CE Week certainly did not disappoint with its unconventional gadgets.

The three-day show in New York showcased several products that are coming out for the holidays, as well as many that are still in development or are just launching on the crowdfunding site, Indiegogo.

With a number of companies exhibiting products and services that included categories like drones, smart home, digital health, robotics, wearables, virtual reality, audio, video, and more, there was certainly something there for everyone. Here are some of the products we found noteworthy:

Health:

There were a number of products at CE Week geared towards providing proper health and well-being. The NordicTrack Mattress with iFit technology comes equipped with a disc that goes under the mattress to track your heart rate, respiratory rate, and sleep patterns, including your rem cycle, deep sleep, light sleep. Using that data, the mattress then gives you a sleep score and suggest how to improve the next day. It will be available for retail in August 2016.

Another gadget aimed to improve your health was the Prophix, a video toothbrush that pairs wirelessly to an iOS app using Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. It allows users to better understand their oral health status while they brush.

Unveiled by Global Ionics, the Beverage Power Drinking Device combines its patented voltage booster and ionic polarization technology to provide athletes with a quicker way to absorb electrolytes and recover faster.

Audio:

Paradigm’s Premium Wireless Speakers feature wireless streaming technology, while also providing a bold and dynamic sound.

Cleer’s DU Wireless is the world’s first HD Dual Driver Wireless Bluetooth headphones equipped with AAC/AptX Ver. 4.0 wireless for high definition playback and effortless NFC Bluetooth pairing.

Photive debuted a number of speakers at CE Week, but of those, it’s most popular is the Hydra speaker, which is one of the most durable devices on the market. This portable rugged speaker is waterproof, shockproof, and dust proof. It has a built-in passive subwoofer for deep bass, as well as a built-in mic for hands-free conversation. It comes equipped with 7W output power (3.5W x 2) and a rechargeable battery for up to 8 hours of playtime.

The Nuheara IQbuds go above and beyond standard headphones. Aside from subpar sound and Bluetooth capabilities, the smart earbuds also control environmental noise and act as a personal assistant listening device.

MartinLogan’s Crescendo X is a luxury wireless speaker that features Bluetooth and Airplay (compatible with iOS). It takes wireless connectivity to a higher level with the addition of DTS Play-Fi technology.

Entertainment:

Vizio’s SmartCase P-Series Ultra HD HDR Home Theater Display is the company’s first 4K ultra HD display to feature High Dynamic Range, Ultra Color Spectrum, and Google Cast.

Vidbox’s Video Conversation Suite transfers analog video footage into digital format. Compatible with both Windows and Mac, the hardware and software ensure a seamless step-by-step transfer.

Lenovo’s Ideapad Y900, Y27G curved gaming monitor, and Ideacentre Y900 are ideal gaming laptops and desktops with extremely powerful processors, graphics, and audio. The Ideapad Y900 comes equipped with an ultra-responsive backlit keyboard, turbo boost, and thermal cooling.

Launching on Indiegogo this week, the Nuni Tortilla Toaster is the first device to prepare up to 6 corn, flour, or wheat tortillas in under 60 seconds. Its human-centric modern design has no buttons, just one simple dial for selecting the heating time. To use the device, you simply insert your tortillas, rotate the front of the toaster up to begin toasting, and then the device will rotate downward and automatically shut off.

Invoxia’s Triby is a smart kitchen device that combines music, messaging, and communication functionality into one. The gadget is voice-activated, so it can be magnetically attached to the fridge to ensure simple communication between the whole family.

Robotics:

Unveiled by Odyssey Toys, the Pocket Drone folds up to literally fit in your pocket. Its motors fold in and its auto start and stop make it easy for beginners to learn how to fly. It lets users record HD videos and take high-resolution photos that can be saved onto the 4GB Micro SD card that comes included.

WowWee’s CHiP (Canine Home Intelligent Pet) is a robotic pet that follows you around and listens to your commands. CHiP is based on new Mechatronics, which is a combination of wireless technology, telecommunications engineering, and a suite of advanced sensors.

Janus 360 by Drone Volt is the first drone dedicated to producing 360-degree video content for virtual reality. Equipped with two Freedom 360 rigs and 10 4K camera capable of recording at 30 fps, the Janus 360 captures 150GB of images per 15 minute flight.

Creative:

The 3Doodler Start 3D printing pen uses eco-friendly plastic that cools and sharpens in seconds and allows kids to literally draw in the air.

Kodak’s PixPro SP360 4K VR camera is the best device you can get for under $500 to mount to your drone. It uses two cameras to create a full spherical 360-degree video and comes equipped with complimentary Stitch Software that lets users effortlessly stitch video to create one immersive package.

Robo3D’s R2 Mini is the world’s smallest and most portable 3D printer currently on the market. You can even directly print right from your phone.

Accessories:

Orion Labs’ Onyx is a single-touch wearable that addresses communication challenges we face on a daily basis. The device makes it simple to talk with anyone, anywhere in the world instantly, as if you were in the same room.

Catalyst makes waterproof and life-proof cases for iPhone, iPads, and Apple watches. The cases can be completely submerged in 16 feet of water or dropped from 6 feet and will still work.
