It’s easy to hit the snooze button in the morning and roll over when your alarm goes off, but then you often find yourself late for work or an appointment. Now, an innovative smart alarm clock rug promises to get you out of bed.
Ruggie is a soft memory foam smart rug with an integrated, pressure-sensitive alarm clock that continues to chime and will only switch off when it detects someone standing on it. While this may be the most annoying rug to ever exist, it is sure to wake you up on time and ensure don’t oversleep.
It’s designed to motivate users to stand up, get out of bed, and wake easier. Ruggie is equipped with built-in speakers and a sensor that only shuts off if you stand on it for three seconds. Aside from a getting you out of bed, Ruggie will also deliver motivational quotes or funny sounds of your choosing each morning.
“Too many times I've over-snoozed. I know how it feels, it sucks. There is so much resistance in the morning: the warm comfy bed, the cold floors, that awesome dream we just had,” creator Winson Tam said. “I created Ruggie to help myself and others get out of bed easier and be more productive.”
Designed to be placed on the floor beside the bed, the rug also comes equipped with LED display underneath its material and can be controlled using a set of hidden buttons located on the underside beneath a zipper. It also has the option to play a variety of alarm sounds including a bird song, noise of bells, and bubbling water.
Priced at $99, Ruggie is currently on Kickstarter with a goal of $36,113 and 55 days left to go. So far, $30,212 has been made and a pledge of $59 will guarantee you the smart rug.
