YouTube’s subscription system is not so easy to manage nor is it very user-friendly. Most people would prefer if every YouTube channel had its own RSS feed, allowing users to subscribe and instantly see any new interesting videos all in one place: the RSS reader.
However, there is some good news. Although YouTube itself doesn’t publish any RSS feeds, you can put some together for any desired channel you wish to follow.
Here is a step-by-step on how to create an RSS feed for any YouTube channel:
- Visit the channel’s main page.
- Right-click on the screen anywhere and select View page source.
- Look for data-channel-external-id and search for the value that immediately comes next. For example: UCfXdejDvNviqilmJ9DvGuow. Note: do not include the quotes.
- Next, insert the value onto the end of this URL:
https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=
- Lastly, submit the new URL to your RSS reader.
And that’s it. Now, you’ll have an RSS feed for that specific YouTube channel. While it’s a bit of an overhaul if you have dozens or hundreds of channels you want to subscribe to, it’s still a workaround nonetheless. Hey, at least it’s possible.
