AC/DC converters ruggedized for demanding applications

Murata’s ruggedized AC/DC converters offer lower power consumption and an increase in holdup times, compared to existing solutions.

Murata’s ruggedized AC/DC converters operate in demanding applications, including industrial automation, IoT, smart buildings, medical, and security markets. The BAC1, BAC3, and BAC05 AC/DC converters offer a wide industrial temperature range, along with reinforced insulation.

Murata BACxx AD/DC convertersProviding safety qualifications for both AC and DC input voltage operation, these AC/DC converters are suited for battery backups systems. Compared to existing solutions, these devices offer reduced power consumption by at least 50 percent and offer a 300 percent increase in holdup times, according to the company.

The 1 W BAC1, 3 W BAC3, and 5 W BAC05 operate in the -40°C to 85°C temperature range. The input and output voltages vary for these devices, and all offer reduced leakage current, isolation capacitance, increased hold-up times, and diminished line regulation, said Murata. (Please see individual datasheets here.)

Offered in small footprints, each series is EMC class B compliant without the need of any external components. Approval is pending for 1 MOPP and 2 MOOP, making them well suited for medical applications. All devices meet UL recognition: the BAC1 with UL60950 and EN60950, and the BAC3 and BAC05 with UL62368.
