XP Power has released three new series of IP-rated, wall-mount AC/DC power supplies that target a range of cost-sensitive industrial and medical applications. The AMF family of wall-plug adaptors offers power levels of 18 W (AMF18), 24 W (AMF24), and 36 W (AMF36) with a single output that covers all common voltages between 5 V and 48 V, This allows designers to select the right device for a variety of applications.
As patient monitoring is increasingly being conducted in the home or workplace, these new power solutions are specifically designed to operate down to 80 VAC to allow for transmission line loss in remote non-hospital locations, while still maintaining a reliable DC output, said XP Power.
All AMF AC/DC power supplies are approved to a variety of medical, home health-care, and IT standards, including EN55011, IEC60601, and UL 62368. “As Class II devices, they can operate safely in environments where the integrity of the safety of earth is not known,” said the company.
The devices are sealed to IP22, allowing the power supply to be cleaned and/or disinfected with reduced risk of electric shock. The AMF power supplies offer 2 x MOPP (Means of Patient Protection), which ensures end-user safety in the event of a power-related issue. The leakage current is less than 50 mA, which allows for safe operation in applications where parts may be connected to the patient.
All AMF power supplies operate over an extended input voltage range of 80 to 264 VAC. This allows for worldwide operation with an additional margin for regions where the voltage may fluctuate, said the company. A range of interchangeable AC connectors ship with every device to meet global requirements.
The AMF family devices, with a three-year warranty, are priced from $11.66 for 500+ pieces. They are available from Allied Electronics, Digi-Key, Mouser, Newark, and TRC Electronics or direct from XP Power.
