AC units boost cooling and cost efficiencies worldwide

By using speed-regulated components and patented heat pipe technology, Blue e+ air-conditioning (AC) units can offer energy savings up to 75%, compared to traditional AC systems used for enclosure climate control, and be more cost-effective. The units provide cooling capacities up to 6,000 W and can be used in environments ranging from −30°C to 60°C. They also provide multi-voltage capability — from single-phase 110 V to three-phase 480 V at grid frequencies of 50 or 60 Hz — and, therefore, can connect to any standard power grid worldwide.

Blue e+ units are based on a patented hybrid cooling process that combines compressor cooling with a heat pipe. The integral heat pipe dissipates the enclosure’s heat as soon as the ambient temperature falls below a set-point (passive climatization); the compressor’s cooling circuit, with speed-controlled components, provides demand-based cooling (active climatization). By thus optimizing cooling, less energy is consumed and overall cooling is improved, leading to longer service life for both the components inside the enclosure and those of the cooling unit itself.

Other innovations include a front touch-screen display that provides relevant performance information at a glance with a plain-text, multi-lingual message system. Standardized communication interfaces ease integration into existing plant-control systems, and the units also provide password-protected Near-Field Communications (NFC). NFC lets operations personnel communicate with the units via a mobile device, such as a smartphone, to obtain real-time performance data and, if needed, quickly modify the units’ settings.
