The USB-104-IHUB small medical-/industrial-/military-grade USB hub features Tru-Iso signal isolation to 4 kV, –40°C to +85°C operation, high-retention USB connectors, and shock and vibration mitigation. It provides four USB 2.0 ports with isolation that meets EN60601 standards. Maximum work isolation is 863 V peak.
The module has one upstream host port isolated from the four downstream ports. It has advanced lightning and ESD protection to ±20 kV on all signal pins. Downstream ports are capable of low-speed (1.5 Mbits/s) and full-speed (12 Mbits/s) transfers and are USB 3.0-compatible.
The unit uses 5 V at 2.5 A, with optional wide range 7 to 35 Vdc input. A 500-mA source at 5 V is available on each of the downstream ports. Each port uses its own power distribution switch that provides overcurrent and short-circuit protection. If a fault occurs, the power distribution switch will disengage the respective port and enable its fault LED as a latched visual indicator to the user. Additionally, a wide input power option exists to accept from 7 to 35 Vdc. Mounting provisions include DIN rail and various panel-mounting plates. Available accessories include an isolated medical-grade external power module.
No driver installation is required. Any USB-compliant operating system will automatically install it. It will enumerate as a Generic Hub, which uses the driver that is built into USB-compliant operating systems such as Linux (including Mac OS X) and Windows.
The unit’s 4 x 4 x 1-in. steel enclosure has LED indicators for power and for fault conditions on each downstream port. The device has upstream and downstream short-circuit protection. The OEM version (board only) features PC/104 module size and mounting compatibility with micro-fit embedded USB header connectors in parallel with all standard USB connectors.
