Acoustic co-processor aids voice recognition
The Acoustic Co-processor IC enables voice-controlled system interfaces and is said to significantly improve response time and accuracy over conventional voice interfaces by supporting larger acoustic databases. The chip uses Nuance Communications’ voice technology, and includes a hard coded logic block that handles the acoustic scoring algorithm and high-speed NOR flash.
The device takes just 400 mw typical and benchmark results show the Acoustic Coprocessor improves response accuracy/speed by 50% over typical systems using an application processor alone. Nuance software is not included with the device and must be licensed separately. (Price not given – samples Q3.)
