Adaptec to Increase I/O Performance for New Dual-Core Intel(R) Xeon(R) Processor-Based Server Systems

Adaptec, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADPT), a global leader in storage solutions, today announced that its RAID technology, including the industry's first ROC solutions, has been optimized and tested for compatibility with the new Dual-Core Intel(R) Xeon(R) processors. In extensive testing, Adaptec SCSI, Serial ATA II (SATA II) and Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) controller technology has been proven to increase I/O subsystem performance on systems built with the new Dual-Core Intel(R) Xeon(R) processor.

In addition to offering standard RAID levels (RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 10, and RAID 50), Adaptec provides its customers with the industry's most advanced RAID features through the Adaptec Advanced Data Protection Suite. It includes RAID 6 which provides increased data protection against the failure of two disk drives, as well as Hot Space (RAID 5EE), Striped Mirror (RAID 1E) and Copyback Hot Spare functionality to further simplify the management of designated hot spare drives.
