Saving the cost and time of respinning a printed-circuit board, the PC-SOIC/DIP14-06 adapter allows an equivalent IC in SOIC package to be used in place of a 14-pin DIP device. The adapter is mapped specifically for the TI LM139A Linear Comparator and is based on the adapter manufacturer’s proprietary technology.
In use, an SOIC package is soldered directly to the top of the adapter and the assembly is then plugged or soldered to the user's target board. The adapter uses gold-plated pins and a substrate made from standard FR4 material, and is priced at $77 ea/10.
